In a bid to foster collaboration and further the interests of the Ijaw Nation, the IJaw National Congress (INC) Western Zone paid a visit to the Commissioner representing the Ijaw ethnic National on the DESOPADEC (Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission) Board.
The Chairman, Chief Robinson Ogunkoru, led the delegation of his executive to express their purpose for the visit, which primarily aimed to establish a rapport with the commissioner and forge a partnership in advancing the collective goals of the Ijaw nation. One of the key objectives of the INC is to bolster the presence of the Ijaw Nation within the broader national context.
Upon warmly receiving the INC delegation, the Commissioner, Hon. Spencer Okpoye not only encouraged their efforts but also suggested that they extend their familiarization visits to all commissioners and representatives of the Ijaw Nation in the House of Assembly and House of Representatives. He stressed the importance of understanding the challenges faced by the Ijaw Nation and the significance of supporting the state government in addressing these issues.
Furthermore, Commissioner Okpoye assured the INC that their proposals would be seriously considered, especially the construction of the new secretariat building, which would be factored into the upcoming budget discussions. He also pledged to review and address their other requests in due course.
The visit by the IJaw National Congress (INC) Western Zone signifies a concerted effort to strengthen the bonds within the Ijaw communities and work collaboratively with government representatives towards achieving a brighter future for the Ijaw Nation.
