President Bola Tinubu has nominated Abbas Balarabe as a replacement for the former Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in a ministerial appointment.
The announcement came through a letter read by Senate President GodsWill Akpabio during the Tuesday plenary.
Balarabe’s nomination was announced alongside the nominations of Dr. Jamila Ibrahim and Ayodele Olawande as the Minister of Youths and Minister of State for Youths, respectively, all appointed by the president.
In August, The PUNCH reported that El-Rufai’s name was notably absent from the list of ministerial nominees confirmed by the Senate.
During the screening process, which occurred approximately a week ago, the Senate approved and confirmed 45 out of the 48 nominees presented by President Bola Tinubu.
Notably, there were several petitions, including those submitted by Senator Sunday Karimi (APC, Kogi West), which were presented against the former governor during the screening, with the lawmaker from Kogi West taking a stand against the former Kaduna State governor.
