A ministerial nominee, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, suffered a collapse during his Senate screening on Wednesday. Lawal, visibly fatigued, suddenly lost consciousness during the questioning.
Worried senators rushed to assist him and immediately called for assistance. Upon the incident, Senate President Godswil Akpabio was overheard asking for water and sugar to revive the nominee.
“Water, water! Can you give him sugar and water? Can someone bring water and sugar? Please, call Dr Wale!” Akpabio exclaimed.
He also requested the cameramen to exit the chamber while senators made efforts to assist the ministerial nominee.
At the time of this report, he had been transported to the hospital, and his condition remains uncertain.
Today, Abbas Lawal from Kaduna State underwent screening along with Jamila Bio Ibrahim from Kwara State and Mr. Ayodele Olawande from Ondo State.
