Following their 3-2 loss to Galatasaray in the Champions League group stage on Tuesday night, Manchester United has slipped to the bottom of Group A.
Erik ten Hag’s team aimed to recover from their recent Premier League defeat against Crystal Palace. Rasmus Hojlund scored the opening goal in the 17th minute by heading Marcus Rashford’s cross.
However, their lead lasted less than six minutes as Wilfried Zaha, playing against his former club, equalized. Hojlund regained United’s lead with a powerful run and finish in the 67th minute, only for Kerem Akturkoglu to level the score at 2-2 four minutes later.
Mauro Icardi missed a penalty, but he redeemed himself by scoring the late-winning goal. This outcome propels Galatasaray to second place in the group with four points and leaves Manchester United with no points.
Bayern Munich leads the group with six points after a 2-1 victory over FC Copenhagen, who are currently in third place with one point.
