Raheem Sterling made a significant impact on Chelsea’s 4-1 victory over Burnley, sending a clear message to England manager Gareth Southgate.
Despite being omitted from the upcoming matches against Australia and Italy, Sterling showcased his skill by contributing to three of Chelsea’s goals at Turf Moor.
Mauricio Pochettino’s team secured their third consecutive win in all competitions. Wilson Odobert, a young French player, marked his first Premier League start by surprising everyone with an early goal for Burnley.
Chelsea equalized in the 42nd minute when Ameen Al-Dakhil accidentally deflected Sterling’s cross into the net for an own goal. The Blues took the lead five minutes into the second half after Sterling was fouled by Vitinho, and Cole Palmer converted a penalty, marking his first goal since joining from Manchester City in August.
Sterling completed his outstanding performance in the 65th minute with a precise finish from Conor Gallagher’s pass, while Nicolas Jackson scored Chelsea’s fourth goal ten minutes later.
