Renowned musician David Adeleke, known as Davido, has firmly stated that he won’t refund the $94,600 (approximately 72 million naira) reportedly received from former Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick, and others for a performance at the 19th Warri Again festival, even though he didn’t make an appearance.
Instead, he intends to double the sum and donate it to a football charity organization. Davido, in characterizing Pinnick as “Mr. Dream Crusher,” accused him of shattering the aspirations of numerous Nigerian footballers due to his greed.
On his Instagram story, Davido wrote, “If I’m returning any money, I’ll return it to any football charity organization.
“In fact, I will double it….. Mr Dream Crusher… imagine how many Nigerian footballers have had their dreams crushed because person one lives for Ikoyi by force.”
It’s worth noting that Pinnick recently criticized Davido for declining to participate in this year’s Warri Again festival, even after purportedly accepting a payment of $94,600 and having a private jet booked for him by the organizers at a cost of $18,000.
Pinnick went as far as warning that he intended to impart a lesson to the singer, expressing his belief that Davido was displaying an excessive amount of arrogance, even though he isn’t a more prominent artist than Burna Boy, who has Itsekiri (Warri) heritage.
