Arsenal’s winger, Bukayo Saka, has been withdrawn from the England national squad due to fitness worries. Gareth Southgate, England’s manager, had originally selected Saka for the friendly against Australia and the crucial Euros qualifier against Italy.
However, extensive medical assessments conducted by the England medical team determined that Saka wasn’t in optimal condition to represent the team. Interestingly, his spot in the squad will remain vacant, as Southgate has chosen not to replace him.
It’s worth noting that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had previously expressed concerns about Saka’s fitness, given the 22-year-old winger’s recent struggles with various injuries, including thigh, Achilles, and hamstring issues.
