The funeral arrangements for the late mother of Nigerian music sensation Wizkid, Jane Dolapo Balogun, who passed away on August 18, have been disclosed.
The family shared an e-flier on social media, announcing a wake and tribute scheduled for October 12 in honor of Wizkid’s mother, with the funeral to follow the next day. The funeral service will be held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) City of David on Victoria Island in Lagos.
Wizkid, who revealed in a 2012 radio interview that his father has three wives, has always held a deep affection for his mother. In 2014, he dedicated a song titled ‘Mummy Mi’ from his ‘Ayo’ album to mothers worldwide, expressing his gratitude for the joy she brought to his life and pledging to provide her with the best life has to offer.
Wizkid, whose birth name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun and was born on July 16, 1990, is widely recognized as a prominent figure in the modern-day afrobeats music scene, earning a reputation as one of the most significant and influential African artists of all time.
