Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze won’t be included in Nigeria’s lineup for the forthcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, as confirmed by head coach Jose Peseiro. Both players sustained injuries during Nigeria’s recent friendly match against Saudi Arabia.
While Chukwueze has resumed training, Osimhen is still in the process of recovering from his injury. Coach Peseiro has affirmed that neither of them will be summoned for the matches against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
“Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen will not be called up during the next break; we want to avoid any risks,” Peseiro told TV Play, as per Milan Reports.
“I was very sorry for their injuries: the clubs pay the players, and we constantly collaborate with them.”
The Super Eagles are set to host Lesotho at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Thursday, November 16. Following this match, they will face Zimbabwe at the Huye Stadium three days later.
