Granada Disqualified From Copa Del Rey Over Ineligible Player

On Tuesday, the Spanish football federation took the decision to disqualify Granada from the Copa del Rey.

This came after they fielded an ineligible player, their 24-year-old B-team goalkeeper, Adrian Lopez, in their first-round victory against fifth-tier Arosa, in violation of the rule that mandates B-team players in the cup to be 23 years old or younger.

In an official statement, the federation confirmed the ruling, declaring Arosa as the winner in the match.

In a similar incident, Real Madrid was also expelled from the Copa del Rey in 2015 when they played winger Denis Cheryshev while he was suspended.
