Spider Bites, Kills Popular Brazilian Singer

Well-known Brazilian musician, Darlyn Morais, tragically lost his life due to complications stemming from a spider bite to his face, as reported by the Daily Mail. This unfortunate incident occurred on October 31 when Morais was bitten by a spider at his residence in the northeastern city of Miranorte.

In addition to Morais, his 18-year-old stepdaughter also fell victim to a spider bite and is presently hospitalized. Morais’ wife, Jhullyenny Lisboa, shared with the Brazilian news outlet G1 that their stepdaughter’s condition is stable.

Lisboa further revealed that Morais began to experience bodily fatigue, and the bruise on his face started to exhibit changes in color following the spider bite. Later in the week, Morais developed allergic reactions and sought medical care at a hospital in Miranorte. He was treated and subsequently discharged on Friday.

“He felt weakness in his body and his face started to darken on the same day (October 31),’ Lisboa said. ‘He went to the hospital and was admitted to Palmas General Hospital this Sunday.”

Morais was a vocalist in a small musical ensemble specializing in forró, a beloved music style in the northeastern region of Brazil. Forró is characterized by its distinctive blend of the accordion, zabumba, and metal triangle.

His musical group comprised just three members, which included his brother and a close friend.

“He was always surrounded by friends and it was always a reason to celebrate for him,’ his cousin, Wesleya Silva, told G1. ‘Always very happy and smiling with everyone around him. Owner of a giant heart, always helping the people around him.

According to Morais’ friend, Samuel Zhytor, the singer, who was a father to a six-year-old girl and a one-year-old boy with his wife, had been in the process of organizing a live performance scheduled for January 2024. This event was intended to be recorded and later released as a DVD. Zhytor shared this information with G1.

“He was always very loved here in the region,’ Zhytor said. ‘He always gave me a lot of opportunities inside and outside the state.”
