The Nigerian Police Force’s Taraba State Command has verified the demise of Bassy Sardauna, a secondary school educator who was fatally attacked by students in Jalingo on Wednesday.
The spokesperson, Abdullahi Usman, disclosed that the victim taught at Model Secondary School, Jalingo. The primary suspect, described as a former student, collaborated with friends to stab the teacher.
The teacher succumbed to injuries at the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo. The command is actively investigating, seeking to apprehend all involved students, with a plea for information from the public.
The attack reportedly stemmed from the teacher disciplining students, causing resentment among some, leading to the fatal ambush on his way home.
Despite being unable to reach school authorities, staff confirmed the incident, expressing concerns about the deteriorating behavior of certain students, particularly in senior classes, and urging the police to hold all accountable.
