The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the interception of a total of N11,040,000 during the recent governorship elections in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa States.
Out of this sum, N9,310,000 was seized from suspected vote buyers and sellers in Bayelsa, while N1,730,000 was intercepted from electoral fraud suspects in Imo.
The arrests of 14 suspected vote buyers in Otueke and Adawari playgrounds in Bayelsa, as well as at various polling units in Imo and Kogi, were a result of intelligence-driven operations initiated several days before the elections.
“Also, two vehicles were intercepted from the suspects. They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” EFCC said.
