A 16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted after consuming alcohol at a yearly church event in Ogun State, as confirmed by the Ogun State Police Command in a statement on Friday.
The victim’s distressed mother reported to the police that her daughter, who had become intoxicated during the church anniversary celebration on November 6, 2023, in Adubi, Ogun State, was raped.
According to Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola, the mother had taken her daughter to a nearby bar and left her there, where she fell prey to Gbenga Kolawole, 32, who engaged in unlawful carnal knowledge. Kolawole was apprehended in the act by Mr. Sunday Ibrahim from the same vicinity.
“The victim has been taken to Ore Ofe Hospital for medical attention and treatment while the suspect has been arrested for preliminary investigation,” Odutola disclosed.
