The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is currently conducting off-cycle elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi states to determine their governors for the next four years. INEC has deployed 46,084 staff, and 126 organizations with 11,000 observers are monitoring, along with 80 media organizations providing coverage.
In Kogi, all 18 political parties are participating, while Imo and Bayelsa have 17 and 16 candidates, respectively.

At 10:48 am, Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri expressed satisfaction with INEC’s conduct. Former President Goodluck Jonathan voted in Bayelsa at 10:11 am and raised concerns about the frequency of off-cycle elections, urging the National Assembly to align them for the sake of democracy. Governor Douye Diri, the PDP candidate, cast his vote in Bayelsa at 9:56 am.
