Kogi 2023: INEC Fixes Nov 18 For Fresh Elections In 59 Polling Units

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that new elections will take place in 59 polling units in the Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, November 18, 2023.

Mohammed Haruna, INEC National Commissioner, made this declaration in a statement on Sunday night.

Election results from 18 of the 21 local government areas in Kogi State have been collated as of Sunday evening, with a close race between the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Murtala Ajaka, and his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart, Usman Ododo.

Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) raised concerns about irregularities in the Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area, leading to the suspension of elections in nine wards.
