On Monday, the Independent National Electoral Commission declared the current Governor, Senator Douye Diri, as the winner in the state governorship election held on Saturday.
Prof. Kuta Farouk, the State Returning Officer, and Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, announced the results at the Prof. Mahmood Yakubu Media Centre, INEC, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Governor Diri secured victories in six of the eight local government areas, with his main rival, APC’s Timipre Sylva, winning only two LGAs.
The PDP candidate triumphed in Kolokuma/Opokuma, Ogbia, Yenagoa, Sagbama, Nembe, Ekeremor, Brass, and Southern Ijaw, while APC’s Chief Sylva claimed Nembe and Brass LGAs.
