On Monday, Rep. Yusuf Gagdi (APC-Plateau), the Chairman of the House Committee on Navy, refuted claims of urging an investigation into President Bola Tinubu’s removal of fuel subsidy, as stated in Abuja.
“The integrity of the media is very important; therefore, it should not be mortgaged or traded for anything.
“There is a misleading story in some sections of the media quoting me to have allegedly said our President, Bola Tinubu, will be probed over the subsidy removal.
“Nothing can be farther than the truth in that news report; I urge the media to be thorough in its reportage and not lose its integrity, especially when it involves translation,” he said.
Expressing surprise at the sensational headline, Gagdi remarked that it seemed designed for clicks and attention.
He criticized the story as irresponsible and reckless, emphasizing his respect for Tinubu and recalling how he abandoned his speakership ambition upon direction. Gagdi called on everyone to disregard such mischievous headlines and urged media outlets to exercise caution in crafting their headlines.
