Pandemonium erupted in Ozoro, the headquarters of Isoko North Local Government Area in Delta State on Monday. Reports indicated that one person was allegedly killed in a clash between two rival cult groups, leading to the arrest of four suspects by the police.
This incident prompted the sudden closure of all commercial activities as traders and business owners in the community shut their shops to prevent potential looting by individuals taking advantage of the chaotic situation.
A security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that contrary to widespread rumours of multiple casualties, only one person lost their life in the clash.
According to him, “There was a cult clash on Monday, the cult people attacked themselves. The information available is that there was a clash between Eiye and Vikings.
“They were using weapons and firing themselves. One dead and four suspects were arrested.” He added.
DSP Bright Edafe, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, confirmed the incident in a text, “One dead, four suspects arrested.” He wrote.
