Two Dead, Over 1,000 Houses Destroyed As Fire Razed Borno IDP Camp

Two internally displaced individuals lost their lives, and more than 1,000 homes were destroyed in a fire that swept through the Muna Alamdari Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Maiduguri.

The fire ignited around 6 am and persisted for over an hour until fire service personnel managed to bring it under control.

According to Dr. Barkindo Muhammad, the Director General of the State Emergency Management Agency, various groups, including the IDPs, Civilian Joint Task Force, security agencies, and compassionate individuals, collaborated to extinguish the flames.

Muhammad mentioned that the agency has initiated an evaluation of the damages and is actively working to offer immediate humanitarian aid to those affected.
