The Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC) put forward 22 justices from the Court of Appeal to be considered for promotion to the Supreme Court by the National Judicial Council (NJC).
As detailed in the FJSC document shared with SaharaReporters, the nominees include six from the North-Central, two from both the South-West and South-South, six from the South-East, and two from the North-East.
Earlier in September 2023, Waffi TV highlighted the reduction of Supreme Court justices to 11 following the retirement of Justice Amina Augie, who left the bench due to reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70.
