Court Remands Ex-CBN Gov, Emefiele In Kuje Prison

Justice Hamza Muazu from the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, has instructed that Godwin Emefiele, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), be held in Kuje prison until his bail application is determined on November 22.

During the court proceedings, Emefiele’s main lawyer, Mathew Burkaa SAN, presented the bail application, strongly contested by Rotimi Oyedepo representing the Federal Government.

Following the arguments from both sides, Justice Muazu stated that due to the numerous legal references provided, an immediate decision couldn’t be reached. The Judge expressed the need to review the cited authorities and examine the evidence submitted by Emefiele in support of his bail request.

As of the latest update, officials from the Kuje prison have been contacted to arrange transportation for Emefiele to the prison facility.
