On Friday, the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna revealed the promotion of Lt. Col. Abubakar-Surajo Imam to the position of Professor in Mechatronics Engineering. This marks a significant milestone as Imam becomes the first-ever serving personnel in the Nigerian Army to attain such a distinguished academic rank.
Brig.-Gen. AM Tukur, the Academy’s Registrar, officially announced this promotion in Kaduna State through a statement released on Friday. The decision, ratified during the NDA Council Meeting in September, came into effect from October 1, 2023.
The Registrar highlighted that the Council’s endorsement symbolizes the acknowledgment and trust in Imam’s remarkable contributions to the Academy’s Department of Mechatronics Engineering. He commended the new professor for delivering exceptional service and consistently upholding the esteemed standards of excellence in his field.
“This recognition not only honours Professor Imam but also highlights the commitment of the Nigerian Defence Academy to acknowledging and rewarding outstanding contributions within its academic community,” he added.
