The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has introduced the VIPs Protection Unit, aimed at safeguarding individuals facing threats due to their status. At the Corps headquarters in Abuja, the first batch of 501 trained personnel graduated during a ceremony.
During the Passing Out Parade, Commandant General Ahmed Audi emphasized that protecting VIPs had always been within the NSCDC’s mandate. Represented by ACG Austine Obiekwe, Audi urged the personnel to uphold the Corps’ reputation and cautioned against actions tarnishing its image.
ACG David Abi, responsible for training and manpower development, highlighted that the unit’s training spanned a week. Members, selected from various commands nationwide, underwent specialized bodyguard/VIPs protection courses to enhance their proficiency.
