Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior is set to be absent from Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier against Argentina due to a left thigh injury, as confirmed by national team officials following his departure from the game against Colombia due to limping off.
The 23-year-old Real Madrid star “underwent imaging exams that confirmed an injury to his posterior left thigh muscle,” the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said Friday in a statement.
It was reported that Vinicius, an integral part of Brazil’s attacking lineup, has been sidelined for the upcoming match against arch-rivals Argentina, the reigning 2022 World Cup champions in Rio de Janeiro. Prior to this, Vinicius himself expressed doubts about his fitness to play against Argentina.
