Barcelona’s Gavi Injured In Spain’s 3-1 Victory Against Georgia

Gavi, the Barcelona midfielder, suffered a severe knee injury during Spain’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Georgia, prompting him to leave the field in tears after being tackled from behind and experiencing a buckling of his weight-bearing knee.

The 19-year-old, who has become a key player for both Barcelona and the Spanish national team in the last couple of years since emerging from the La Masia youth academy, underwent tests revealing a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, along with an associated injury to the lateral meniscus.

He is scheduled for surgery in the upcoming days, and further updates on his medical condition will follow post-surgery.

During this season, Gavi has appeared in 15 games for Barcelona, starting in 13 of them. He scored goals against Villarreal in the league and Royal Antwerp in the Champions League, and he also contributed with one assist.
