NiMet’s forecast indicates haziness and sunshine across Nigeria from Saturday to Monday. Specifically, it predicts moderate dust haze on Saturday in the northern region with visibility ranging from 2km to 5km.
Over the forecast period, a sunny sky within a hazy atmosphere is expected in the north-central and inland southern cities, while the coastal areas might experience partly cloudy skies within a hazy setting. Additionally, localized thunderstorms are anticipated later in the day in certain areas of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states.
“For Sunday, moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility of 2km to 5km is anticipated over the north and north-central regions during the forecast period.
“Sunny skies in hazy atmosphere is expected over the inland cities of the South during the forecast period. Patches of clouds in hazy atmosphere is expected over the coastal cities throughout the forecast period.
“Also for Monday, moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility of 2km to 5km is anticipated over the North, North Central, and the inland cities of the South during the forecast period,“ the agency said.
As per the agency’s forecast, there will be scattered cloud formations within a hazy atmosphere over the coastal cities during the entire forecast duration.
Additionally, the agency advised the public to take necessary precautions due to suspended dust particles, specifically urging individuals with asthma and respiratory problems to be mindful of the current weather conditions.
