The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has initiated a 50% reduction in interstate travel costs for Nigerians during the Yuletide season. President Tinubu endorsed a 50% discount for interstate trips and a full waiver for train travel on December 20.
This information was communicated by the NURTW Oshodi branch in a statement released on December 22.
The statement cautioned that fares might escalate unexpectedly due to heightened passenger traffic during the festive period. Additionally, transport providers have the liberty to increase bus frequency without prior notice to cater to increased passenger demand.
Furthermore, the document includes the NURTW Transport Operators’ assessment for Akure and Ilorin destinations, along with transport fares as of December 22, 2023.
