Black Christmas In Plateau As Assailants Kill Over 100

At least hundred individuals were reportedly killed in recent assaults that targeted various communities in the Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State.

Monday Kasa, the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Area, said that these coordinated attacks occurred on Saturday and extended into Christmas Eve, impacting residents amidst their festive celebrations.

Kasa elaborated that the casualty count continues to rise as security personnel, local vigilantes, and hunters discover more deceased individuals while searching through the bushes for missing persons who were ambushed during the attacks.

Additionally, the attackers set numerous houses on fire, plundered agricultural produce, and caused destruction to properties during the assault.

The Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, denounced the unprovoked attacks and called for immediate action and community vigilance. Governor Mutfwang also urged communities throughout the state to stay vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to security personnel for necessary intervention.

As of now, both the police force and the joint security task force, Operation Safe Haven, have not issued comments on the attacks, as rescue operations persist in the affected areas.
