Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has passed away. Reports indicate that he died in Lagos on Wednesday at the age of 67. It’s been said that he was under the care of State House doctors until his passing as he couldn’t be flown abroad.
After his return to Nigeria in September from a three-month medical leave in Germany, the ailing governor took another medical leave upon President Bola Tinubu’s instruction.
He handed over power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who has since been acting as the governor. Akeredolu initially stayed in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, attempting to govern from there, causing public uproar.
