The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) forecasts a period of moderate dust haze spanning from Wednesday to Friday nationwide. According to NiMet’s weather report issued on Tuesday, there will be horizontal visibility ranging between 2km to 5km, with localized visibility dropping to 1,000 meters or less specifically in the northern region.
As per its forecast, moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility ranging from 2km to 5km is predicted across the North, North Central, and inland cities of the South on Thursday. Additionally, the agency foresees a hazy atmosphere prevailing over the coastal areas of the country throughout this period.
NiMet anticipates moderate dust haze persisting on Friday with horizontal visibility spanning 2km to 5km over the North, North-central, and inland regions of the South for the entire forecasted duration.
“Hazy atmosphere is expected over the coastal cities during the forecast period, and the public should take necessary precautions as dust particles will be in the air.
“People with asthma and other respiratory issues should be cautious of the present weather situation.
“Airline operators are advised to get updated weather reports from NiMet for effective planning in their operations,” it said.
