Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, visited internally displaced persons in Bokkos and Barkin-ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State following the recent armed attacks.
Accompanied by party officials, Obi offered a donation of N5 million to the attack victims. Expressing concern about the alarming insecurity in the nation, Obi called upon the Federal Government to prioritize the protection of Nigerians’ lives.
He emphasized the need for the government to address the increasing number of internally displaced people, stating that it is unacceptable for citizens to seek refuge within their own country.
The attacks on Christmas Eve resulted in a reported death toll of 195, with 148 casualties in Bokkos, 19 in Mangu, and 27 in Barkin Ladi. Additionally, 1,290 houses were destroyed in Bokkos, while one house was burned down in Mangu.
