Dangote Refinery Gets 4th Shipment Of Crude Oil

Preparations are well underway for the start of production at the Dangote Refinery, with the petrochemical company having received its fourth shipment of one million barrels of Bonny Light crude supplied by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL). Additionally, the refinery anticipates the imminent arrival of its fifth crude shipment.

According to a statement from Dangote Refinery on Monday, “The fresh one million barrels of crude was the fourth consignment to be delivered to the Dangote facility out of the six million barrels of crude being expected by the world’s largest single-train refinery.”

Recall that previously, the Dangote Refinery had received a shipment of three million barrels of crude.

Mr. Akin Omole, Managing Director of Dangote Ports Operations, had informed journalists at the Dangote Quay in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, that the Refinery was expecting approximately four million barrels of crude before the conclusion of 2023. He further mentioned that the remaining two million barrels would arrive by early January 2024.

He expressed confidence that this supply of crude would position the Refinery favorably to commence operations. Upon the full delivery of the anticipated six million barrels, the refinery will initiate its initial operations, producing diesel, aviation fuel, and LPG, followed by the production of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS or petrol).

This recent development is expected to play a crucial role in addressing the fuel supply challenges not only in Nigeria but also in other West African countries.

With its capacity designed for 100% Nigerian crude and the adaptability to process various African grades, Middle Eastern Arab Light, US Light tight oil, and other international crudes, the 650,000 barrels per day Dangote Petroleum Refinery is well-equipped for processing diverse types of crude oil.
