Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), defended the prohibition of openly carrying arms by Nigerians in light of the attacks in Plateau State.
Lagbaja expressed his views during an interview on Channels Television last Sunday.
The recent attacks in the North-Central state resulted in over 195 fatalities and numerous injuries. The Army Chief argued that allowing individuals to engage in self-defense through open arms possession would lead to “anarchy.”
“I do not support that. I think that is a call for anarchy.”
