The Port Harcourt Refinery is currently undergoing test runs to guarantee it is fully prepared for commercial operations. Despite the planned resumption of refining after a maintenance period in December 2023, a recent check revealed that the testing process, along with subsequent crude supply, is still in progress.
Chief Corporate Communications Officer, NNPC Ltd., Olufemi Oladapo Soneye, who confirmed the development, said: “We have said that the Port Harcourt Refinery has been completed. Test running is ongoing. It is targeted at ensuring that everything, including the lines, is in perfect condition. It is when everything is confirmed to be fine that supply of crude for refining can start.”
Earlier, NNPC Ltd. had announced the successful accomplishment of the rehabilitation work on the Area 5 Plant at the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC), reaching mechanical completion.
