Arsenal’s midfielder Thomas Partey will miss the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire as Ghana has omitted him from their 27-man squad due to his ongoing injury. Partey, who has been sidelined for weeks, will stay in North London to continue his recovery.
This absence is a positive development for Arsenal as it means they’ll have Partey back in January and February, coinciding with the AFCON 2023 period. His recent injury struggles have been a setback for the Gunners, impacting their midfield options and overall performance.
Despite Takehiro Tomiyasu’s return and his attempts to fill the midfield gap, Arsenal has felt Partey’s absence keenly. The 30-year-old, who hasn’t played since October due to a thigh injury, missed 17 games across all competitions.
However, there’s hope for Arsenal as they return to action soon, with Partey potentially available for their upcoming FA Cup clash against Liverpool on January 7 and the subsequent Premier League game against Crystal Palace on January 20.
