The Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, faced a setback as midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has been sidelined from the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast due to a significant injury sustained while playing for Leicester City.
Despite initially making it into the final 25-man roster, subsequent medical evaluations revealed Ndidi wouldn’t recuperate in time for the tournament, dashing hopes for his participation in the Super Eagles’ quest for a fourth AFCON title.
As a result, Alhassan Yusuf, a midfielder from Royal Antwerp, has been summoned as a late replacement and will join the team’s training camp in Dubai.
