The All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged Nigerians to stand by President Bola Tinubu as he works towards improving the living conditions of all citizens.
According to Mr. Felix Morka, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, the criticism from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) regarding Tinubu’s New Year message reflects the PDP’s inability to serve as a credible opposition.
Morka emphasized that the PDP’s blind criticism highlights its incapacity to fulfill the role of a viable opposition party, suggesting that even in a contested scenario for the position of the opposition party, the PDP would significantly fall short.
“Democratic opposition politics is not exactly about being a masterclass of incivility or casting crude aspersions without justification.
“It is also not about haughty display of ignorance of essential social and economic policy or willful blindness to the administration’s bold and courageous efforts to raise the bar for sustainable growth and development of our country.
“PDP’s nagging irrationality is a blight on our democracy,” he said.
He commented that Tinubu’s new year address displayed a composed, empathetic, eloquent, distinctly presidential tone, fitting perfectly with the purpose and occasion it addressed.
Morka highlighted that a president’s new year speech serves as a goodwill message to the nation, celebrating the new year and setting expectations for the upcoming year. He pointed out that this type of address isn’t akin to a policy speech directed at a think tank, an understanding that seems to elude the significantly misguided PDP.
According to him, the president’s new year message resonated well with Nigerians, affirming the administration’s dedication to resolving power and energy issues. Additionally, the message addressed local petroleum refining, reducing product prices, job creation, fostering a more conducive business environment, and addressing security concerns.
He further noted that the message encompassed initiatives to expand food security and affordability, implement a new minimum wage for workers, among other aspects.
