Talks Ongoing To Release Nnamdi Kanu, Says Kalu

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu has hinted at the possibility of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release from detention, providing a glimmer of hope in the midst of his prolonged incarceration. The Supreme Court’s recent order for Kanu’s retrial has sparked discussions about his prolonged detention as the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).

During a virtual appearance on the “South East political Roundtable” radio program, Kalu mentioned ongoing efforts towards Kanu’s release. He urged the youth to cease the sit-at-home protests, expressing concerns about its adverse impact on potential investors keen on contributing to the region’s development.

Additionally, Kalu highlighted the positive impact of the Peace In South East Project (PISE-P) in Abia State’s Bende Local Government Area. He called for a non-violent approach to address security challenges, urging those with arms to lay them down and join efforts toward resolving grievances through dialogue.

Furthermore, Kalu appealed for support to empower President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government, emphasizing the president’s interest in fostering the South-East’s development.
