FG Disburses N105.5bn For 260 Roads Repairs Nationwide

The Federal government has allocated N108.5 billion from the N217 billion designated for urgent repairs on 260 roads across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

During a meeting in Abuja, Minister of Works, David Umahi, revealed this information to all Ministry directors, emphasizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to infrastructure investment. Umahi stressed the importance of ensuring thorough road repairs without any room for excuses.

Among the roads benefitting from this allocation are the Third Mainland Bridge resurfacing, Lekki Deep Seaport road construction, rehabilitation of two collapsed bridges in Enugu, and enhancements on two sections of the Onitsha-Owerri Road.

Additionally, the plan includes upgrading the ongoing Abuja-Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia road and the dualisation of the Lafia by-pass, among other approved road projects. In October 2023, the Ministry sought government approval for urgent rehabilitation of these roads, which was granted two weeks later.

“The President has approved over 260 road interventions across the 36 states and the FCT,”

“I am pleased to announce that 50 per cent of the palliative works for the year 2023 have been released to the Ministry. The pressure was already on me, so I even had to resume early”, he said.
