BREAKING: SuperSport Makes U-turn, To Show AFCON 2023 Games

MultiChoice Group has revealed plans to broadcast all 52 matches of the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON). This announcement was made by DSTV Nigeria through its official X handle on Wednesday.

The tweet reads, “No gree for anybody! Watch all 52 matches of the #afcon2023 on @supersports.

The company clarified that the broadcasting rights are “non-exclusive,” stating that the matches will be accessible on most DStv and GOtv bouquets.

This revelation comes a few weeks subsequent to MultiChoice’s disclosure of failing to secure the broadcasting rights for AFCON.

New World TV, a Togolese audio-visual group, outbid the company for the broadcasting rights.

New World TV successfully secured the rights to broadcast all 13 of CAF’s competitions across sub-Saharan Africa for a two-year period.

MultiChoice’s initial announcement has left many football fans in sub-Saharan Africa uncertain about their access to the upcoming continental competition.

Startimes also declared reaching a sublicensing agreement with New World TV to broadcast all the competition’s games.
