Dauda Abdulfatai, a Nigerian man, has embarked on a 200-hour ironing marathon with the aim of surpassing the Guinness World Record for the longest ironing session.
He commenced this challenge on Wednesday morning in Lokoja, Kogi State, at Off Ajaokuta Road, Ganaja Village. Dauda seeks to break the current record of 100 hours held by Gareth Sander from the United Kingdom, who achieved this feat in 2015 by ironing approximately 2,000 items continuously.
Guinness World Records has officially acknowledged Dauda’s attempt with an acceptance email, granting him permission to pursue the record-breaking endeavour.
“Application Reference: 230618101834|mi Hello Dauda Abdulfatai We are pleased to inform you that your application has been accepted under the following title: Longest marathon ironing,” The GWR informed Dauda.
The aspiration to secure a place in the Guinness World Record gained significant attention in Nigeria and other African nations following the achievement of Hilda Effiong Bassey, a Nigerian chef widely recognized as Hilda Baci.
She successfully set the Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking marathon, clocking in an impressive time of 93 hours and 11 minutes.
