Taiwo Awoniyi, the striker for both Nigeria’s Super Eagles and England’s Nottingham Forest, expressed in a recent phone interview that the team’s unity on the field could lead them to victory in the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
Awoniyi emphasized the team’s possession of the essential qualities for triumph in the continent’s premier football event.
“If we play as a unit, I don’t see any nation at this AFCON that can stop us.
“With God on our side and the quality of players in the present Super Eagles, we will do it again,” Awoniyi said.
Expressing disappointment for missing the tournament, Awoniyi refrained from questioning God, as he believed in the greater purpose behind events. Despite being unable to participate due to an injury sustained during club duty, he acknowledged the tournament as a desirable experience for every player in their career.
