The Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire’s Head Coach, Jean Louis Gasset, expressed confidence in his team’s ability to restrain the Super Eagles of Nigeria during their upcoming clash on Thursday in Abidjan.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, he mentioned that the technical team has diligently prepared and devised a solid plan to counter the formidable attacking prowess of the Super Eagles.
“Regarding our second match, we know the strengths of Nigeria, they have an impressive offensive armada.
“They have the best African player in their squad, but against them, we will have to raise our game, and I know my players will do it because I know you have to win that first game to be released,” he said.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire claimed a 2-0 victory over Guinea-Bissau in their first match, securing the top spot in Group A with three points.
In contrast, the Super Eagles faced a challenging 1-1 draw against the lower-ranked Equatorial Guinea in their opening game, placing them third on the table, tied with Equatorial Guinea at one point each.
The upcoming match is scheduled to be held at the 60,000-capacity Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.
