Delta Judiciary Approves Special Courts For Environmental Laws

Hon. Prince Godwin Ejinyere, Director General of the Warri, Uvwie, and Environs Special Area Development Agency (WUEDA), announces that the Delta State judiciary has authorized the establishment of five mobile courts within the agency’s designated regions.

These courts will prosecute and penalize individuals violating environmental laws. Ejinyere shared this information during a visit from the Chairman and members of the State Waste Management Board at his office in Effurun.

He said the approach of the mobile courts would be slightly different, but refined according to best practices, “to ensure that every resident complied with environmental laws, as offenders who dumped refuse or parked vehicles indiscriminately would be severely penalized within the existing legal framework.”

He informed the Waste Management Board team that he had previously engaged with Private Sector Participants (PSP) to devise strategies for achieving efficient waste management in the Agency’s designated areas.

He expressed gratitude to the board for its dedication to fulfilling the development objectives of State Governor Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, assuring them of his availability whenever needed.
