On Wednesday, the Federal Executive Council, chaired by President Bola Tinubu, approved the renewal fees of N9.8bn for the Group Life Assurance of Federal Government employees.
The disclosure came from the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, following the FEC meeting.
The approval, amounting to about N9.6bn, was granted by the President for 12 local insurance firms to provide coverage for federal workers in case of unforeseen events during their duties, as outlined in a memo presented by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan.
“There are about 12 insurance companies involved. It’s a regular annual cover that insurance companies give workers.
“So, in the event of death or severe injury, they can resort to and so that their families would not have to suffer,” Idris explained.
