Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian and Napoli FC striker, expressed dissatisfaction with the team’s performance against Equatorial Guinea and highlighted their improvement in the subsequent match against the host team on Thursday.
The current African Footballer of the Year shared his thoughts during the post-match news conference.
Notably, Nigeria secured a victory against Cote d’Ivoire with a 55th-minute penalty kick by Captain William Ekong at the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara Stadium. Osimhen, awarded the Man-of-the-Match, emphasized that there are no underdogs in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.
“We needed this game to make a statement.
“We were focused from the start of the whistle to the end.
“We were really happy about this victory and we will really keep on going from here,” Osimhen said.
