Nigerian Passport Grants Access To 45 Visa-Free Countries In 2024

The Henley Passport Index revealed that in 2024, the Nigerian passport allows visa-free access to approximately 45 countries. This information was disclosed on Thursday when HPI, a global passport-ranking website, unveiled the most powerful passports in the country. HPI provides an authoritative ranking based on the number of destinations passport holders can access without a prior visa.

The index often relies on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the largest and most accurate travel information database, and is further enriched by the research team at Henley and Partners.

On Thursday, the passport ranking website positioned Nigeria at 95th out of 104 countries with the most powerful passports. Nigeria is ranked lower than Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Lesotho, Morocco, Benin Republic, and Namibia, which hold positions 76th, 83rd, 67th, 65th, 71st, 79th, and 65th, respectively.

The Nigerian passport grants visa-free access to 45 countries, including Barbados, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cape Verde Islands, Chad, Comoro Islands, Cook Islands, Cote d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Dominican Republic, Fiji, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Iran, Kenya, Kiribati, Lebanon, Liberia, Madagascar, Maldives, Mali, Mauritiana, Mauritius, Micronesia, Montserrat, Mozambique, Niger, Niue, Palau Islands, Rwanda, Samoa, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, St. Kitts and Nevis, The Gambia, Timor-Leste, Togo, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
