On Monday, NAFDAC officially confirmed that paracetamol tablets available in Nigeria comply with prescribed dosage standards, aligning with both national and international regulatory criteria.
Prof Christianah Adeyeye, the Director General of NAFDAC, dismissed recent claims suggesting potential underdosing of almost all paracetamol tablets in Nigeria as inaccurate and unscientific, expressing intent to take action against the researchers.
Adeyeye conveyed this stance during a press conference in Lagos, where the results of laboratory tests on paracetamol tablets were discussed.
According to Adeyeye, said: “This is a 100% pass rate for the full compendia tests result for the 20 samples of paracetamol tablets tested.
“The assay was validated using British Pharmacopoeia testing methodologies. It is for precise and reliable assessments of the dosage levels in the sampled paracetamol tablets.”
