Police To Go After LBGTQ Members In Nigeria

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) individuals have been cautioned to avoid Nigeria, as stated by Muyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Police Force.

He emphasised that the police would actively pursue individuals associated with the LGBTQ community participating in the ‘Of Course’ challenge, labeling them as “criminals.” Videos depicting purported LGBTQ members explaining their identities and public perceptions have been circulating.

Adejobi wrote: “They are criminals and punishable under the law.

“We are on this clip to take necessary action according to the provisions of the law in Nigeria. These are unnatural offences and are totally condemned. Thanks.”
